There is probably no better "real" serial killer movie than Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer...

Also, Citizen X is a very good movie, superb, I'd say...about Andrei Chikatilo.
The hooker stabbing scene in the woods is awesome.

Confessions of a Serial Killer is really good too...it's based on Henry Lee Lucas and Otis Toole, however, the characters have different names in the movie.
Really creepy moment when the woman lets them in to repair whatever...and minutes later, finds fat-boy Moon (Otis) at her vanity putting on her make-up in a very smiley, creepy manner.

What else?
Deranged was excellent...great 70's movie...saw it as a kid and remember it to this day...especially the bear-trap scene.

Haven't seen Snowtown, but it's in my Netflix queue.

I saw one Dahmer movie where he puts a live dude into an industrial barrel full of acid...don't know the name of the flick, though...

Lots of good movie mentions...
Nice thread.

Would just like to again say how awesome Snow town is. Since it's also currently on Netflix Instant (Damn it! I paid to have it imported) think it's one that people should definitely seek out. Not quite horror, more so a darker drama with horror type elements. Well acted though, good story of course based off of unfortunate real life events. I was surprised how good the movie was, I went in expecting to be disgusted because of the hype it was getting ("It's so disturbing...yada yada yada" ). Definitely a pleasant surprise.

No one knows - he was never caught.

Its a great film except for the inappropriate humour in it.

From Wiki:

It is based on a series of actual murders attributed to a man dubbed locally as the Phantom Killer, who murdered five people between February and May 1946. The murders occurred in and around the city of Texarkana, which is on the border between Texas and Arkansas. As such, there is both a city of Texarkana, TX and a city of Texarkana, AR. Most of the murders occurred in rural areas near both sides of the Texarkana area and also in rural areas of Bowie County, TX and Miller County, AR. The Phantom Killer was never identified by law enforcement and therefore never apprehended.

sounds good though i tend to like the ones were they actually got caught in the end.if they dont know who done it alot of the movie seems to be made up on suspicions, which makes the movie not as scary or fucked up as actual fact.
