I am actually looking forward to these films, but not so much the tv series. I mean, Terminator 3 was O.K., but they should not have done what the first two already set out to do, we get it; go back and time and save and blah blah blah.

I can finally see the war. Cameron only made hints and quick clips about it in the previous two, and I always wanted to see more. And now that they have dragged out the whole, lets go back and time routine, they can move onto the war....

The next installment of "The Terminator" franchise is undergoing the same kind of problems as "Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines" did - namely legal problems.

MGM & Halcyon Co. (who hold the rights to the franchise now) are locked up over distribution deals, and it looks as though it's all headed to court, resulting in further delays to any possible future big screen ventures.

MGM have apparently sought control over budget, script, director and male lead (basically, the whole thing). Halycon Co. are claiming that MGM were only ever entitled to a 30 day "look-see", and that's now passed......

At any rate, the script for "T4" has been written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris, who wrote "T3" - "The Sarah Connor Chronicles", which was ordered to series by FOX, will be the next appearance by any kind of Terminator when it hits the small screen mid-season.

Will the T-1000, the character played by a then-unknown Robert Patrick in “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, make his comeback on the small screen? Well, it’s a possibility, says “Sarah Connor Chronicles”’ consulting producer James Middleton.

“We absolutely thought about that,” says Middleton. “We love Robert Patrick. We studied his performance as a Terminator and think he’s a fantastic actor and we have talked about him a lot. We don’t know what we have for him, but love him as an actor. We have talked about having echoes of the films in a lot of ways, including actors from previous movies.”

Middleton also touched on “Terminator 4” confirming that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s unstoppable cyborg from the first three films is out – he may cameo, but it sounds unlikely – and a new hero will be introduced.

“It would include John Connor and it would also include a brand new hero for the movie,” says Middleton. “We envision this T4 would be the beginning of a new trilogy. We had talked about having Arnold doing a cameo and we’ve never been at a point where that could happen. There’s a lot of momentum to getting financing for the movie now that there are new owners for the franchise and I'm sure we’ll discuss it then.”

From moviehole.net -

I’ve been hearing this for the past couple of months too, but brushed it off assuming it’s either Furlong himself spreading the rumours and/or his new wife – who’s aware the mortgage payment is due – or a 200-pound “Terminator 2” fan that loathes casting switcheroo’s.

But maybe, just maybe, there is something to it and with whispers that Nick Stahl isn’t keen on returning to the role, who else would you consider than Furlong? He is, after all, the original whiny chum-of-cyborg. And with Schwarzenegger gone, you’re gonna want some link to the original series aren’t you? (though, in my opinion, I’d go for Michael Biehn – it’s time we caught up with Kyle Reese again; and don’t give me the ‘but he’s dead’ line).

Someone – again, this could be fuckin’ Furlong himself - tells Aint it Cool that they’ve checked in with Edward Furlong’s agent and the word is : Furlong is back as John Connor for “Terminator 4”.

Firstly, I didn’t know it was a sure-thing that Connor was going to be in the new “Terminator”? I got the impression that it was either going to concentrate on a new bunch of characters being hunted down by a new metal-skulled fiend, or, fix on some of the soldiers that are fighting the good fight in the future. Either way, we’ve been told that “T4” will be the start of a new trilogy. That Schwarzenegger will not be a part of it. And that it’ll probably be nowhere near as good as the original trilogy and as a consequence, fans will demand the series renamed to “Killer Robots” for DVD.

So what do you guys think? Does Furlong deserve a second chance at playing nice with the "Terminator" crowd? or should the producers just cut their losses and cast the skinny chump from "Sarah Connor Chronicles" in the part?

Furlong is back as John Connor for “Terminator 4”.

nope

He can't be bonded, so he won't be appearing in any big budget movies for a hell of a long time. No underwriter will put up the insurance guaranteeing that he'll be able to complete a film (or even survive the shoot) so he's essentially PNG in Hollywood.

It was announced a few months back that the rights were sold and a new trilogy was on the way... in short, he's back. Marcus Schenkenberg was announced to be one of the "new" Terminators in Terminator 4, which is being written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris, and while production seemed to hit a halt because of rights issues... it looks like things might have been cleared up.

Rachel Weisz and Chloe Sevigny are reportedly battling it out to play a killer cyborg in the new 'Terminator' film, according to Celebrity Spotlight.

The Hollywood beauties both tried to impress the producers of the much-anticipated sequel during a Dazed and Confused magazine party at New York nightclub The Box on Sunday (09.09.07).

Weisz, 36, and 32-year-old Sevigny are said to have wasted no time in approaching Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, both big hitters at Halycon Company who own the rights to the movie.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Chloe and Rachel personally inquired to Anderson and Kubicek about the role at the party."

The cast for the film is yet to be named, but it is believed a high profile "hunk" has already been cast as the male lead.

However, Weisz may struggle to fit any new projects into her already busy schedule.

She is already signed up to star in director Peter Jackson's 'Lovely Bones' and next year will start shooting 'Sin City 2' with filmmaker Robert Rodriquez.

Meanwhile, Sevigny has low-profile German romance 'Peter and Catherine' on her current filming schedule.

Could this be why Weisz turned down her Mummy 3 role? At least we know Chloe will do a sex scene... for real.

I think it's about time a Terminator Dog appeared.

erh ..... anyways, how about this for a story line:

T4 starts sometime after T3, and indeed is set in the time of the first film. The near future where Earth is now over-run by the 'bots. The remaining humans have formed small armies to fight against the machines, blah blah blah.

At the end, of the story the machines decide the only way to kill off the humans (and in particular the leader) is to send a terminator back in time -

Closing shot of a cyborg being built, that looks remarkably similar to Arnie.

The end (bringing the series full circle)
