"Let the Right One in" came so close to perfection for me that there is no reason to remake it and absolutely nothing can be gained by molesting it. They should focus the energy on giving the original the proper, world-wide release it deserves.
What the hell are these people thinking?

Remakes for language purposes are far from new, if it's good maybe it will get some people interested in the original. Turkey seems worse... they did it to Young Frankenstein and Star Wars among plenty of others and without a budget theirs end up even worse than these American remakes.

Fuck it. Whenever I find out that the US is gonna remake anything I'm going to make sure to check out the original first. Maybe I won't watch any remakes ever again.

OMG! I didn't pay any attention earlier..but the things happening in an awful way the title has been changed to “Let Me In“! WTF!? Are they wanna make a cheesy version of it...'Let me in, I did something terrible!'
The surprising part is it is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield)! It'd be better if he got busy with a Cloverfield sequel instead. ![]() In an interview, Reeves expressed his intent to retain the original's early 1980s setting. He mentioned Littleton, Colorado, as a possible location for the remake, and revealed his own strong personal connection to the story: "It's a terrific movie and a fantastic book. I think it could be a really touching haunting and terrifying film. I'm really excited about what it could be." The title of the film has been changed to Let Me In, and the names of Oskar and Eli have been respectively changed to Owen and Abby. Reeves is currently working on the second draft of his screenplay for the film, which, following on previous reports, will be set in wintery Reagan-era Colorado, and is scheduled for a fall 2010 release. ![]() Reeves vision of the film: “I see the film as essentially being the fantasies of this 12 year old who’s having such a hard time. It would never be that overt where you would watch the movie and say that’s a dream but to me that is kind of an organizing principle.” In response to the criticism of the remake, Reeves commented that: "I can understand because of people's love of the [original] film that there's this cynicism that I'll come in and trash it, when in fact I have nothing but respect for the film. I'm so drawn to it for personal and not mercenary reasons ... I hope people give us a chance." ...Do you really care ***##^****? ![]() Sources: upcominghorrormovies.com, wikipedia.org

Richard Jenkins, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Moretz have been tapped to headline "Let Me In," the remake of the arty Swedish vampire pic "Let the Right One In."
Pic is produced by Hammer Films, with Overture aiming for a 2010 release in the U.S. The coming-of-age horror tale revolves around the relationship between a preteen boy and a girl who just moved to the neighborhood and happens to be a vampire. Smit-McPhee and Moretz play the kids, while Jenkins is the girl's vampire-hunting guardian. Production begins this fall in New Mexico with Matt Reeves ("Cloverfield") helming. Hammer Films acquired the remake rights at last year's Tribeca Film Festival, where "Let the Right One In" took the narrative feature nod, and the remake was fast-tracked after the original built buzz among critics and specialty filmgoers. Jenkins has a handful of upcoming projects including "Eat, Pray, Love," with Julia Roberts. Smit-McPhee can be seen next in "The Road," with Viggo Mortensen, while Moretz was last seen in "(500) Days of Summer."
