I was glad to see the indie artist duo win best song. As she said- it was a real sign that independent artists can make it if they really try. On a larger scale, it's a great message to the major music labels that they have stiff competition.
Also glad to see La Vie En Rose win best actress. That was a real surprise. I'm a big Edith Piaf fan and Marion Cotillard was stunning. |

I found La Vie en Rose a little uneven, but the directing and pacing were at fault for that. Cotillard's performance was incredible, nuanced in ways that your standard issue best actress performance isn't.

I still think the Oscars are over-rated. True recognition comes from the fans.
