Ah, yes, I agree with that statement......I remember I had the soundtrack to "The Thing" on vinyl. And that theme is very memorable. But...it wasn't a soundtrack I played a lot.

the entity score is very atmospheric but probably not in the genius category as far as composition goes. i was gonna say jaws and suspiria but i was too late. for cool soundtracks anything tarantino is good.

Soundtrack for From Dusk 'Till Dawn kicks a lot of ass as does The Devil's Rejects soundtrack

As for scores, The Hammer version of the The Mummy is excellent I also dig the score to
Halloween
The Shining
Sleepy Hollow
