Can't wait for this. I love Robert Rodriguez but he really needs to redeem himself after that train wreck called a "movie" Machete Kills

Sin City: Dame to Kill For’ Tanks at Box Office

Quote:
The nine years since the original sealed the fate of Frank Miller's sequel, which opens to a grim $6.4 million.

The gritty and stylishly violent sequel “Frank Miller‘s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” took a bullet to the gut at the box office this weekend.

Checking in nearly a decade after the original, the R-rated “A Dame to Kill For” mustered just $6.4 million over the weekend. That's about $10 million less than analysts had projected and less than a quarter of what the original debuted with in 2005.

Saw this last night on a double bill with the first one. Some spoilers:

It is not nearly as good as the original but still enjoyable. The parts based on 'A Dame to Kill For' comic were great - Eva Greene was the ultimate Femme Fatale. The section with marv and trampkillers felt a bit like filler - The rest of it wasn't in the comic - Joseph Gordon-Levitt was pretty good as Roake's long lost bastard son but I didn't enjoy the part about Nancy getting her revenge.

I read the comic when it first came out and puzzled by the trailer as I thought 'A Dame to Kill For' was mostly about Clive Owen's character but it all made sense on seeing it as Josh Brolin took over the part of Dwight. Manute was played by some one else too (since Michael Clarke Duncan is no longer with us).

I think the problem was that the style isn't anything original anymore. I didn't expect it to do well.
