That's a great question. I think my differentiation between them is that one is a very serious, crazy stalker thing with the insanity overtones and the other is very much a send up of those same serious films.

why are we even debating this? Scream vs. Halloween? there's no fight because Halloween is completely and utterly supreme to Scream.

1. the score is the most excellent of all horror movies(in my opinion). music is one the most essential factors in making a movie even remotely creepy, and Scream's score does not do that.

2. Halloween was completely original, the first of it's kind. Scream was not, it basically spoofed everything before it.

3. Michael Myers is the shit, and the two jackasses in Scream (can't even remember their names they sucked so bad).

4. Halloween had 'Don't Fear the Reaper' in its soundtrack. and when Scream played 'School's Out' as background music they didn't even bother to get the best version of it......Alice Cooper!

So what? Scream had red right hand, which is good too. Get over it, people are going to like different films than you, welcome to the real world. this isn't directed only at you btw, i'm not trying to start something, but anyone who says that someone elses opinion is stupid because it isn't like your own is totally asking to be dropkicked in an alley somewhere.

i didn't say that anyone's opinion was stupid, if it came out that way i'm sorry.

all i was trying to say was that Scream doesn't even come close to being as awesome as Halloween. that's just my opinion, however, i do know that a lot of people share this same opinion. so i'm not really going to feel bad about what i said.

not trying to start anything, just replying.

I am going to vote Halloween. Scream is watchable but I would not consider it scary. Myers is definatly more visually scary, his whole image and attitude can freak you out. Scream well I find the scream mask has just become comedy. However I did like that you didnt know who the killer was in Scream but as I said Myers definatly more scary. The whole atmosphere of Halloween was more creepy. I consider both to be good films but over all Halloween is better IMO.
