There are solutions! We simply have to take it upon ourselves to serve as shining examples of what we believe to be the right way to live.

Parenting - When we had our first kid, the wife and I decided that one of us would stay home with them, that no one other than us would be responsible for raising our kids. Our finances have suffered tremendously, but it is more important to be there for the kids than to have a house and better cars.

As a result our children are always pointed out as examples of how to behave by teachers and whenever our kids have playdates, the other parents ask how we raised such thoughtful and well mannered children. It's no secret. You simply have to be there everyday and instill real discipline (as opposed to the spineless discipline afforded by nannies, day-care workers and teachers.)

Mind/mood altering medication for kids - NEVER EVEN CONSIDER IT

Inflation - you got me there.

The Movies? I'm working on it;)

Relationships - Been married 10 years. We tease and play, but never really fight, have no hint of jealousy and always show respect for each other. The kids see what a healthy, happy relationship looks like and will hopefully emulate it.

Stupidity - Show off your intelligence on a regular basis. Educate everyone you can. Make it cool to know as much as possible. Several here call me a pompous ass - While this is hardly the goal, it doesn't bother me in the least, because no one will ever call me stupid.

It's all about being the example instead of giving in to the state of things!

Why can't everyone understand this?...It's so simple...I commend you for making choices that benefit your children rather than yourself...I swear, I honestly believe that most people just don't care...

You can make a lot of money...You can buy a lot of things...You can build things and put your name on them...But, money runs out...Things break...Buildings crumble...None of it means anything when you're dead....However, the way you raise your child, the things you teach them, the love you give them...THAT will last forever...They will most likely raise their children the same way...Our immortality lies within our children...What could POSSIBLY be more important than the lives of our children?

This is probably classed as the best thread in here for me.
If we as parents in here can read your blog and learn something from it.
A similiar case over here..but with my nephew.
He has 2 beautiful children (boy and girl)..however he and his wife are seperated,,
she has them weekedays..he has them weekends and holidays,
However he is also a socialiser who spends most of his time picking up girls..
When its his turn for his children..he leaves them either with his dad..or tries to pawn them off to me (i always refuse) or other family members.
Its worse when he gets into a stable relationship as he never picks the kids up ..AT ALL..
and we always get this from him..MY KIDS MEAN THE WORLD TO ME..I love my children..he goes to places with his new girlfriends where his kids would absolutely adore..like the movies..fun parks..etc.without them.
He opted to spend a months pay on a diamond ring for his girlfriend..even though the mother to his children asked him if he could help her buy the kids school uniforms and pay thier fees..he makes me sick!!!
As for blaming movies/comp games etc for our childrens behaviour..
I mean..look at it this way...many parents nowdays ..the 1st thing they do for a bit of a peace and quiet is to dump thier children in front of the t.v..so much that the kid has grown an attatchment to one programme or t.v character.
Nothing good on t.v now ..so what else does the parent do..??
go out and buy the latest game console..and buy the kid the games he saw while watching t.v.
Hey..the kid gets bored with that..why not go out and buy him a computer cos his mates has one and this way they are able to chat..play games..even get recruited into online clans.
Under the guise of..we must buy our kids this comp to help with thier homework..!!!

Relationships:
While i was reading miss O's thread..i felt as if I was reading about myself and
my situtation last year.Dedicating my life to my husband..etc.
When things started to go wrong..i automatically assumed it was me or the children so in order to keep the peace..we adjusted our behaviours and were forever apologising if we got him in a bad mood..
all the while he would be happily chatting to his B/F2 clan..laughing carrying on like that.
Then i thought ..ok..this is his passion..i should learn the game etc ..in which i did and became pretty good with the admin side of things...but still no improvement..to make a long story short..
We decided to part ..and we did on good terms..we were the best of buddies untill one fateful txt ..that told me that all the while i was admin..for a almost 2 years he had been having an affair with the only female member in his clan...and one part while at a lan..they were fucking not 10 meters away from admin ..where i was based..!!!!!
However..with the help of a silly egyptian..i was able to hurt/wound and heal..most of all ..move on.I couldnt be any happier or more in love for the 1st time.
Whats happened to the world ppl ask...nothing..
the world doesn't change..its the ppl!!!!!!!!!!

CGI as the automatic solution

Re-watching Monster Squad a few nights ago, I was amazed at how good the Wolfma, Creature, Mummy & Frankenstein looked. Maybe I'm missing something, but what happened to puppetry & make-up? I'm fine with a combination of the two, but sheesh. It's hard to get creeped out by a monster movie when the damned critter looks like it came out of a Pixar flick.

i was only smacked once when I ran out into the road when I was two. I understand it though. you can't explain to a two year old why you can't go out into the road so pain is the only way. It's one hit by hand or another by a ton of hard metal.

What about the constant threat of us getting nuked? That seems pretty bad. Although I wasn't alive during most of the cold war, so maybe it was worse back then, nuke-wise.

Totally

Last Friday of every month the air-raid sirens would go off and we'd do "duck and cover" drills in school. Fucking terrifying. Living in Washington DC we were repeatedly told that we'd have nothing to worry about - when the nukes fell, there'd be a bright flash and then POOF we're vaporized. When "The Day After" aired on television I couldn't sleep for fear of the Ruskies lobbing thier nukes at us.

And there's my annoyance. Haters, especially for religion. We aren't hurting you, what did we do. Leave us and our bible alone if you hate it. Stop nagging and complaining about it, what DID we do to you? Nothing! We're just here. And for people who hate when christians try to convert you, in some cases it is annoying and wrong (like jehovah witness and crazy christianity ) , but when someone gets yelled at, punched, or even shot for trying to save your friggin eternal soul? I'm sorry we even care about others sometimes...

(this wasn't totally directed at xperiment by the way, just ranting)
