In a word: Yes.

Few more words: One of my favourites. Made it onto the Top 100 list, so how bad could it be?

The sets are great, the effects are good, the actors are way better than you'd expect (Esp. Geoffery Rush...the only man other than Price himself who could pull off that role. He's fantastic)

Go buy this one dude, you'll love it. Plus you can get it really cheap:D

EDIT - Forgot to mention...as awesome as it is, the ending is pure crap. Up until the last 10 minutes or so it's amazing, but then it takes a swandive off a rather steep cliff.

Do you know which version? There've been quite a few. The one from the 40s is quite good, and so's the silent 20s version.

Decent movie, but maybe not the greatest silent to start with. Of the ones that Ive seen, it's easily the weakest IMO.

Now dont take that the wrong way, it is certainly a good movie. But by comparison to Nosferatu, Phantom of the Opera, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Metropolis, ect., it's just not up to snuff.

I'd pick it up if I were you. But Return's right, there are better silents. Check out Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

I might have 2 copies of Nosferatu laying around. I know I used to for sure, but I may have already given 1 away.

When I get home I'll check and if I do, you can have it.

Rob Zombie is screening that movie on TCM on Friday December 29th. I think it is a great cult classic. Vincent Price has to battle to try and stay alive. It was filmed in black and white... the auora of it is very dark. The company TREELINE makes 50 dvd movie meagapacks and I think all three movies are included in one of the horror megapacks.
