I, for one, don't really care to figure out catagories of metal. I listen to it, and I either don't like the band or I do like them... and thats were it mostly ends with me. I don't stick to any certain kind of metal. Just my two cents.

none of them are nu metal.
I agree that Paradise Lost is in no way nu-metal (they've been around pretty long too). They've had some songs played on MTV ('Say just Words' or more recently 'Erased'), but they're in no way as succesful as bands like Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit. Same with Nightwish. So, I think, every metal band that's really popular (like platinum bands) these days, gets the 'nu-metal' tag.

On a side note: I saw Paradise Lost play at a gig here a couple of weeks ago, and they were great. Really enjoyed their latest album too. Before they performed that night, they stopped by near my hometown at a metal convention to sign albums in the afternoon, along with After Forever. That was pretty cool also.

Well, thanks for the compliment. I have to say, you've got good taste too. Anybody who lists Paradise Lost as their top band, is OK in my book.

About the Jennifer Lopez thing: D'Lo is short for my real name (David Lowie), and I've been using it since I first started surfing the internet (must have been 6 years ago or something). And then, Jennifer became popular and started to use the J'Lo thing. And basically, since then, I'm screwed! So I'm just gonna say on the record: I really don't like J'Lo's music. Hell, I should sue her or something, for stealing my idea. But then again, who really cares about some guy in Belgium, she would probably kick my ass in court...

After Forever didn't play live with Paradise Lost at the gig I saw, but they did play an acoustic set at the metal convention in the afternoon, after they signed autographs. I have to say, the lead singer was amazing live. She really has a great voice. I hope to see them sometime again soon, but then in a real set, because the acoustic set was way to short (30 minutes or so). But then again, the entrance was only about 2,5 euro (= 3 dollars), so I wasn't complaining.

Sounds cool. In Belgium there's a two day metal festival called 'Graspop' at the end of June. Last year I saw Type O Negative, Anthrax, Within Temptation, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Stratovarius, Apocalyptica, Ministry, Alice Cooper, Prong & Sepultura amongst other performers. For this year Motörhead, Testament, Judas Priest, Anthrax & Alice Cooper (the last 2 for the second year in a row) have confirmed. So it looks like it's gonna be another killer edition. I love metal festivals, the atmosphere is way cooler there than at other festivals... And the music too, of course.

sounds exelent, alot of good bands there, specialy within temptation alice and iron, have been listening to iron maiden since i was about the size of a grape.
the dream though is to see the summer breeze festival in germany. every year i look at the line up and i dont se one single crappy band, just armies upon armies of hi quality metal
