It depends. If the movie I'm seeing becomes an EXPERIENCE at the theater, such as The Matrix trilogy, Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, etc., then hell yah, lets hit the theater. Maybe twice.
But for the most part I'm on my couch with a DVD and a hella hot cup of tea.

When I was younger, I worked at a theater. I loved watching movies on the big screen, especially when it was late at night and hardly anyone else was there.
After a while, theaters started getting bigger, and the screens got smaller. It ruined it for me for a while. When they re-vamped the Cinerama in Seattle, it really brought back that original magic. Watching American Psycho for the first time on that HUGE screen was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Anymore though, I just do the DVD thing. As stated by others, I like the privacy, and I love watching a movie for the first time, then watching all of the special features & re-watching with commentary if they have one.
