Yep, those are the two. Bad Religion is my all time favorite band. Pennywise's older stuff is AWESOME! They're in my top 10 all time.

Regarding Green Day... They definately were punk when they came out. (And no, Dookie wasn't their first album. There was 2 before that on Lookout! Records.) Then they signed to Reprise, put out Dookie, got introduced to MTV and the rest is history. Their latest album is experimental. It could actually be considered their 'punkest' in terms of content. The entire album carries an very strong anti-government message. (In terms of music, label, popularity though, it is far from their 'punkest' one.) While I can see why you would say that about a few songs off of the new album, I would never go so far as to say 'Green Day is an emo band.'

Blink-182 is kinda the same as Green Day. Cheshire Cat is an excellent, fast, three chord, power punk album, then they switched labels, put out Dude Ranch and became teen idols. I never would have considered them 'emo' either until this latest album they put out. That thing is the biggest bunch of crap I've ever heard. The fact that bands like this jump to a major labels for distribution and money purposes pretty much takes them out of punk consideration right there because the idea of punk is to be rebelling against corporate pop rock and in many cases government and other positions of authority.

Bands that come out now like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan never were really punk to begin with. They saw bands like Green Day & Offspring on tv in the mid/late 90s and said, "Oh, that's what's making money now? We can do that." Bands like these were sellouts from the moment they were formed.

But never fear... There are still good punk bands out there that have not and will not ever sell out to the corporate major labels. Bad Religion, NOFX , Pennywise, Pulley, No Use for a Name, Lagwagon, Guttermouth, The Living End, Tilt and Millencolin just to name a few that I like.

Pistols were the punkest of the punk. They had no musical talent and they didn't even give a shit. It was all about chaos and anrachy for them. They embodied a truely 'punk' attitude.

I consider Velvet Underground to be the first 'punk' band. I'm not really familiar with them too much, but I like Lou Reed's solo stuff and I give credit where it's due.

Obviously, this is all just my own personal opinion, but it's right, so get over it. ;)

Wild and Crazy Punker!!!

GG Allin(pictured)...it's as simple as that. You go all out to prove your craziness. Whatever it takes. But still put on one hell of a punk rock show!

I fucking hate gg allin too...

If the Pistols had no musical talent they couldn't have recorded a album or even write a good song.

MC5, The Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop were the first seeds of punk rock. They are all rock n roll bands with very unique music.
