Weekend Day Movies
KM 31: Kilometer 31 (2006)
![]() A Mexican Horror that's pretty inspired by Asian Horror films like Ringu & Ju-On. Overall, not a bad effort at all and had some decent creepy moments & nice dark atmosphere but bit unoriginal and got one or two cheap plot twists in the story. Some online sources are confirming that a sequel is developing by the same director as it's been regarded as the highest-grossing horror film of Mexico. >>: B Sylvia (2003) Watched it just for Gwyneth Paltrow & Daniel Craig. >>: B- Green Lantern: First Flight (2009) ![]() >>: B- Bane (2008) ![]() >>: D

Return of the Living Dead: Part 2. Eh. Wasn't horrible or anything. Stuck to the original's roots enough that it was an amusing sequel. However... It was pretty boring.

I always thought that return 2 felt like a remake of the first...?
Not sure though, haven't seen ANY of those in a while...never checked out the last "new" 2 either, they don't look great. Just bought Critters 1-4, watched 1&2 so far. I have fond memories of these - They're stupid, and pretty funny...though I really love some of the sci-fi elements in the first one, and the alien designs (the critters, the no-faces, the random aliens the bounty hunters go after, the fat floaty guy warden) are pretty damn cool, you ask me. Not quite as scary as when I was a kid, actually pretty much not scary at all. But a good entertaining cheesy ass product of the 80's. Also been watching on dvd, this BBC show called "Jekyll". Fuckin' hell, this is a kick-ass show.

ROLTD Part II is basically the first movie all over again with a softer "family" approach to the story. I've got the last two flicks but haven't got round to checking them out. I love the third flick.
Caught some of Jekyll on TV earlier in the year it looked pretty decent have to hire the DVD if I see it. Watched Blue Demon last night... laughably bad killer shark flick. |

For All Mankind (1989)
A refreshing documentary because of its immersive, hypnotic style and its organic simplicity. It isn't so much educational but rather a sensual experience, and when you're done with it you feel exhilerated and renewed. Interviews come second to the lunar footage, and instead of being the main focus of the film they're more a guiding narration. Often times the appollo missions are reflected upon inaccessably, but here they are presented as the unreal dreams they actually were; the human beings who walked on the moon seem just as perplexed and bewildered by the experience as we are.
