Death Wish 3
I'd never actually seen any of the other Death Wish movies, but I caught this one starting on TV this afternoon and thought I'd give it a look. HUGELY entertaining. It's a B-movie for sure, but in the best possible way. Action packed, and Bronson is badass - I really should watch more of this stuff.

Baby Blues (2008)
![]() A crippling case of postpartum depression leads a young mother to strike out against her four young children while their father is away from their farmhouse home working a 24-hour shift. Realizing his siblings' lives are in danger, 10-year-old Jimmy takes action in a desperate attempt to save the family from a horrifying fate! Bit disturbing to see a young mother recklessly killing her children brutally in this low budget 'slasher' with a shitty ending. >>: C The Devil's Tomb (2009) ![]() An elite group of soldiers are sent on a covert mission to retrieve a missing scientist from an underground lab. Worst of the year so far! >>: F Have the BB: Return of the Joker on collection but haven't seen it yet. Saw the others except Mask of the Phantasm, which I heard the best Batman Animated feature so far!?! Among the last three, liked the Mystery of the BatWoman most...a total entertainer!

Smash Palace (1981)
Enjoyed one of Donaldson's earlier flicks last night (Sleeping Dogs), so I decided to pop this one in this afternoon. Great movie. It's a slow burn, but a compelling and tense drama, that builds up to one hell of an ending. Bruno Lawrence steals the show as the father struggling in the aftermath of his wife and daughter leaving him; he delivers a nuanced and tortured performance and was really the highlight of the film. Not what I was expecting after Sleeping Dogs, but still a really well made thriller. Worth a look for sure.

How does the rest of the series stack up? I'm keen to check out some more now. Back on topic, just watched: Hulk Vs. Thor (2009) Way better than the Wolverine half of this double feature. The action is better, it has somewhat of a developed plot, and I daresay the animation is even a little stronger. It's still nothing earth-shattering by any means (and only 45 minutes), but if you're into these characters you should take a look.

S.F.W. (1994)
"So fucking what?" A lot can be said for going into a movie blind. I'd not heard one single thing about this movie for better or for worse, but I grabbed it awhile back in a bargain bin and now that I've watched it, I'm glad I did. This is a movie about apathy, about celebrity culture, about all the flaws of our society. It is an angry, angry movie lashing out at everything wrong with us today. It's a movie with a message, and even though I don't personally agree with everything it had to say, it made it's case pretty damn strong. By the way - I have a new found appreciation for Stephen Dorff after watching this. Great performance.
