I watched both versions of Funny Games recently - and while I think they're both great flicks, I prefer the American version. It seemed like it was cast far better, and the visual style was better, as well.

Punisher: War Zone
It was about what I expected. Decent acting(although Billy could have been a little less gaudy, even for a comic book movie), good action, and more entertaining than the previous tries.

I Wake Up Screaming
Awesome little film-noir thriller. A bit dull in places and the mystery aspect was a bit of a letdown, but the ending was spectacular. The Cornell character was what really made the film - Laird Cregar had great presence on screen, and the character was just brilliantly written. Most memorable part of the film for sure.

Rock'n'rolla. 9/10 A nice mix of Smokin Aces and Shoot 'em up, witha little bit of Ocean's 11 remake. I loved it.
Fido 10/10 can't believe I have never seen this, given my obsession with the 50's and with zombies. So cheesy, and yes, so perfect. Green screen when they are driving in cars even though they had the budget to do otherwise just reminded me of all my favourite B-movies. Too cute.

Hatchet (2006)
Pretty cool slasher flick. Great ending. -7/10. A Scanner Darkly (2006) Wow, what a crazy flick. -8.5/10.

Dark City. Loved the uber dark atmosphere of this flick, the camera work, etc. The story-line seemed to be moving along so nicely, until the climax. It was just cheezey.
***Spoiler Alert*** All that work and end it w/ an alien/sci-fi Scanners duel ripoff. That was horrible. What truly killed it for me, though, was the end, which was an almost carbon copy of Harold Goldfarb's dream in Requiem for a Dream. i loved that scene (in Requiem) where Harold sees Marion standing at the end of the pier in a dress. What was Aronofsky thinking, borrowing this scene from Dark City and using it in Requiem, complete with the same actress (Jennifer Connelly)? WTF? Maybe a valium with a vodka chaser will make it all better. Ashe. d
