[QUOTE=ChronoGrl;754587]I WANT THEM I WANT THEM I WANT THEM

I. LOVE dachshunds!! My boyfriend has already noped me on the suggestion that we get one, though. He claims that they're one of the stupider dog breeds... I'm actually curious - Is it true? Are they any dumber than any other breed?

...
The truth about Doxies is that they are one of the smartest breeds, they are just VERY stubborn and difficult to train. Lizzie came from a puppy mill, and had NO socialization with dogs or humans. After 10 litters in 5 years, she came to us, and now we're almost 3 years into having her, and she will sit on the couch with us, just not on us. The other 2 are VERY snuggly. Indy and Maggie will lay all over daddy when I am in my chair, and they sleep with us. Indy came trained from a mill in Indiana, and Maggie was a pup from a breeder in Tillamook, on the Oregon coast. They understand simple commands, and will even sometimes listen :D .
This breed is so loyal and once you are the forever mom, you belong to them .

Indy says "you totally need a Doxie"

Aww, cute doggies!

Still no harmony with the felines. But then, it hasn't even been a week yet. Cherokee chased Lucy downstairs this morning. Lucy came back up with her tail all fluffed out. Poor baby!

LOL....I just said the same thing about Flinx's dachshund, I missed the pictures of Cherokee, she's so cute Hammerfan, I miss having cats so much. One day I will, I'm sure there's a pill or something I can give my husband. ;) But I admit ever since ChronoGrl started posting pictures of her Sphynx I have wanted one, just not sure how RASCAL would react. He barely tolerates Cheyenne taking up any of my attention.

Anyway, good luck with your cats, hope they learn to like each other, or at least tolerate each other soon....:)

I had been keeping Cherokee in my bedroom, and was going to do that for 2 weeks. I guess the sight of her sitting at the door, waiting for it to be opened made me back off a little. I think we're going to have to go back to that for a while.

Tell your husband that I'm allergic to cats, too. Except mine probably aren't as bad as his. Does he get the watery eyes and all that? I just get congested. A little shot of Flonase or Nasonex takes care of it for me.

Oh. My. GOD.

If this continues, we're going to have to just go out and get one.

Then again, we've resolved to get a bigger place before investing in a dog (our apartment is pretty tiny; I want a house with a yard before adding a dog to the family).

I keep hearing about "allergy pills" and "allergy shots" every time I bring up the fact that my boyfriend is allergic. The only reason he refuses to get treated is that he deals with other health issues and just doesn't want to compile on them (can't blame him!)... But your boyfriend should look into it, though. You want a cat SO much!!

Then again, your dogs are ADORABLE (I think that Rascal is my favorite - I love his colors).

I have to say, though, that the Sphynx doesn't really bother his allergies. We wash her once a week so that takes care of the dander for the most part, though every time she bites, scratches, licks, or sucks on him, his skin gets red and puffy.

They're a great breed, Jenna, and I honestly recommend getting one if there is a breeder around your neck of the woods.

Oh! And I apologize for those who have already seen this, but JENNA... DID YOU SEE HER HALLOWEEN OUTFIT?!?!?!?!?!

I love it! I'm just crazy about your cat. :p She's just awesome.
The only concern I have is how Rascal will react, I am not sure he has even been around cats. Cheyenne has I know, and she doesn't seem to mind them, I think she prefers them to other dogs honestly, but I am just not sure about him. I'm afraid he will end up bleeding, maybe missing an eye.....so I have to get some advice and figure out exactly how to do this before I bring a cat into the house. I want everyone to be happy and to get along. ;)
