Round 1: Match 9
2001: A Space Odyssey  Long stretches of silence, very little in the way of coherent plot, ambiguous beginning, ambiguous ending, pretty antiquated in its views of what 6 years ago would be like, and one of the best movies ever made, probably THE best science fiction movie ever made. One of the few films I'd call "art." VS Evil Dead 2  Not art. But a hell of a fun movie, and probably more influential than it gets credit for. A lot of fun, gorey, horror/comedies have tried to be Evil Dead 2, some have been better movies, but still, none of them are Evil Dead 2.

I dont think anyone can argue that 2001 isnt the better film here, but it just isnt that enjoyable. Great movie, but I'll take Evil Dead 2 over it anyday.
