X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE
I loved the television show and seeing Mulder and Scully is still enjoyable, but this really did feel like just a long episode of the show instead of something bigger. Not bad, but not great either. I does manage to bring up a really interesting question of faith and redemption, but it is sidetracked by a truly silly plot. If you liked the show it's worth a watch, but I'm gald I didn't go see it in the theater. 6/10

The Assassination of Jesse James - not what i was expecting, not a typical western, and definitely not a good movie to watch when you're feeling down, but very good nonetheless.
Re-Cycle- I've pretty much given up on these japanese super natural movies. this was bad, often laughable, and cliche as hell. Dance Of The Dead - something that should never be mixed - teen highschool movies, and zombies. |

Taps (1981)
Holy Crap! I had forgotten how completely fucked-up this film was. This kind of film could never get made in today's climate. For those of you too young to remember this gem, it's about a military academy being forced to close its doors due to budgetary reasons, but the students won't let that happen. The students (heads filled with delusions of military might) decide to take command of the school by force and all hell breaks loose. Young Tim Hutton, Sean Penn and Tom Cruise all deliver great performances. Ronny Cox and George C Scott round out the cast. Fucking crazy. Loved it! 8/10

Lars and the Real Girl...it wasn't at all what I expected, but it was a decent watch. It was cute and quirky and the acting was outstanding IMO. I thought certain parts could have gone into more depth, but overall it was well done. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.

"The man who knew too little"
I really liked this one - have only ever seen it once before unexpectedly during a movie marathon when it was originally released. Funny, probably Murrays REALLY funny films of old...I still have hope we'll see THIS Bill Murray again someday. Good stuff, glad I came across this film again.

Saw Punisher Warzone last night
The plot was, there. Kinda mostly The acting was, pretty damn good for some (I like Ray Stevenson, a lot after this), not so great for others (Reports of "italian stereotypes are not unwarrented) The action: INFUCKINGCREDIBLE. The body count was mindblowing. Heads exploded constantly in the fight scenes, and they werent happy to leave them all at just gunshot wounds (the opening scene with Frank of the table with the flare opens up with, I wont say, but there was a lot of blood :)) As far as the bad reviews it got, anyone who went in with the illusion that this was going to be like any of the other comic based movies that came out this year was, well, stupid. It lived up to what I personally expected from something base don the punisher; ultraviolent. Probably because I have a little girl myself, I totally bought the sappier moments of the movie. But those were few, and necessary to care about the victims as something other than "girl and woman in trouble". And they lead to a guy getting the entire eye/nose part of his face punched in (LITERALLY :D) and another getting his head blown off with a shotgun. Go see it. If you just want to see a bunch of people get shot, stabbed, slashed, blown up and beheaded, go see it.

Punisher: Warzone.
What Vod said. Plus, you may criticize the casting as much as you want, but I thought Ray and the guy who played Jigsaw did extremely well (overlooking the slight accent). But, above all, this is exactly how a Punisher movie should be like. Forget Dolph, forget Jane...this is old-school Punisher - the dude who created history for Marvel. From start to finish, Frank Castle achieves what Frank Castle should be - a total badass. It is Punisher vs Jigsaw from start to finish, and it is exactly that. Fast-paced, gritty violence, entertainment unlimited. Satisfaction guranteed. Rating - * * * ½

Quote:
Ray Stevenson is a monster. He is freaking huge and completely sold the image. There are several scenes of him standing with his legs parted slightly, a gun in one hand, staring down with that godaamn evil glare, and it felt like you were looking at the cover of Punsiher issue or one of the posters they made. Just like all the other comic movies that came out this year, you can tell the director and writer had a genuine love for the subject. Or they faked it REALLY well.
