Got this in with my granddaughter tonight. Lots of fun for the "big" kids, too.
I got nightmares for months after watching that.

Dark House -

I probably should have passed on this one but I saw Jeffrey Combs and Meghan Ory in the credits. The movie is pretty much a miss even with them but Jeffrey Combs always manages to turn in a funny or at least inspired performance. I've seen Meghan Ory in a few TV shows and figured why not see what kind of horror movie she's in. It's a good premise. Actors go to stay and work in a house with holographic killers. Meghan Ory's character maybe has history with the house. I don't know, a twist happens that I didn't get and I don't think the writer or director got either. The acting is bad for the most part except for the two I mentioned. The movie has the sort of bad writing that anyone familiar at all with computers will cringe at. Namely a guy that can program physical holograms gets a virus on his computer. Forget about the fact that said virus is from a ghost. Yes a ghost actually gives a computer a virus. And the guy's response is to reboot it. Because we all know that will erase a computer virus. This movie was made in 2009 as well. I thought I was watching something from the 90s. The twist comes out of the blue and doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. A pass as there are better movies to watch.

Triangle -

I've wanted to see this one for a while. I saw the poster with Melissa George a few years back and it looked like a good one. Plus I've always had a thing for the Bermuda Triangle. I did a large scale project on it in lower school. Somewhere between 1st and 5th grade. The idea of things not working and an area people don't understand was always strange and weird. I can't believe this movie didn't get a theatrical release here in the States and was financially a flop. I doubt DVD and Blu-ray sales made up the rest.

In case any one else hasn't seen this one I don't want to spoil it at all. I've seen similar themes in movies and TV shows but I don't think I've seen it in horror. The movie is well done and basically like a full length Twilight Zone episode. I don't want to mention the episode because it will ruin the movie. Send me a message if you want to know. It's an episode that always scared me and I'm getting shivers now just thinking about it. Speaking about Twilight Zone, there is a series of prints coming out and I hope that episode is one of them. Here's the first one of Eye of the Beholder -

I'm going to try and find the posters that are in the Aeolus. That should make a good display somewhere one day.

There are tons of twists and surprises in Triangle and just when you think you know what's happening there is another twist. The movie has tons of beautiful cinematic wide shots and some horrific ones too. There is one shot in particular that's striking and tells the nature of what's going on. It's very much like something out of Twilight Zone or another genre that I don't want to mention as it will spoil the movie.

Just like Halloween and other great horror movies, Triangle leaves you with an unsettling feeling at the end. A definite movie to own.

The Objective -

This is almost a modern, more subtle version of Predator. I liked it but it's not something I'll watch again.

Damn this was bleak and depressing but its also incredibly well acted and has a very moving story. You just might need to watch something happy afterwards.

With my little Princess. She absolutely adored the little robot and EVE, and cried her heart out when the film was over.

For the nth time on glorious 1080p HD. Love the film to bits, despite it's flaws and critic-bashings.

There's a theory that Wall-E is actually a crazy killer robot.

I, Frankenstein -- 6/10

I, Damn Heathen, didn't care a lick about this story, which would have been a thousand times more interesting had the villain succeeded, in whole or in part, with his master plan. The grand spectacle of it all did give me a thrill, though, and such horror-actioners are few and far between. Eckhart didn't seem fit for the lead; Nighy was his usual villainous self (always a pleasure).
