Lets take the movie the Omen which I like a great deal imagine if the big spearlike pole that kills the priest didnt show the pole go into him lets say the scene was you see the pole fall to the priest you dont see it touch him but you see him leaning next to the pole dead. If that would have been scene I am sure you would have felt jipped because you would not have seen the pole penitrate his body. So when I see Leatherface not hacking off body parts in TCm and just making motions I feel jipped to me that is not horror. Hey I could put on a mask get a chainsaw make motions as though i am hacking up a body without touching it and that would not be scary at all. I say make movies like Dr. Phibes where you see people get killed and it looks real or the Omen or movies along those lines.
It was originally titled Headcheese. Would you prefer that?

im just listing the ones that come to mind the quickest, classic horror movies have a tendency to suck less. @ least the originals.

Well if you mean classics that were made in the 50s & 60s then I agree those movies still rock and suck less.

Okay, ass-sucking horror flicks? I know a few. Hell, I was watching "The Creeping Terror" back in 1979. So (ahem), yeah, I do know this territory a little bit. Okay, here's my stupid list.

1. DUMB HELSING
2. CREEPING TERROR
3. MANOS: HANDS OF FATE
4. THE SEA SERPENT
5. DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN

However, I enjoy watching all these movies, except for DUMB HELSING.

Hi Gojira - you're starting to make sense now.

I too have been jipped many, many times; when I hired The Shining expecting two and a half hours of Jack Nicholson cleaning his bathroom surfaces, I got some cack about extra-sensory perception and lots of snow.

So I tried again with Pitch Black - expecting to witness a night-time soccer game during floodlight failure - and got some yarn about alien creatures fighting some bloke called Riddick.

Finally, after wasting another £4 on renting The Blair Witch Project only to see no witches OR British Prime Ministers in it, I gave up.

Now I only watch films that do exactly what it says on the tin, like the brilliant Let's Hack Joey's Arms & Legs Off Part 6: The Decapitation Diaries - I tell you, you gotta see them slicing that guy's limbs off man... awesome!

I can't believe someone would hate a film just because of its title. Who cares if its called Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Its what inside the film that counts, you think its dull because you don't watch it with an open mind, I thought the beggining was perfect. Showing parts of a body while it shows a shot of the red sun with the title flashing on. ITS A HORROR FILM THAT GETS YOU MENTALLY, NOT SEEING THE MASSACRE MAKES YOU MAKE UP WHAT HAPPEND, THIS IS A WONDERFUL THING LOTS OF DIRECTORS DO. A cliche in horror films is exposing everything in front of you off the bat.

Tecas Chainsaw Massacre is supposed to have a realistic feeling to it, Tobe Hooper is a realistic style director. If you saw a girl getting hacked up it wouldn't be that realistic, it was different and it was gold, it changed the landmark of horror, and I LOVE IT TILL THE DAY I DIE. Thats the end of it.
