If religion was PROVEN to be false ... well ... Vod is right. There will always be those who believe, and they will probably do what they can to cover up the evidence. But, let's just say that everyone realized the truth ... this is what I think would happen:

1) All of those people who were refraining from doing wrong out of fear of hell and hope for heaven will begin to do whatever the hell they please. They had no reason to figure out right from wrong for themselves ... they had their religion to tell them. So, without that, many will be morally barren.

2) Many people will commit suicide. Being an atheist yourself, Je Suis, you've probably run into this thousands of times: "You're an atheist?? How can you get up in the morning?? What do you have to live for??" etc. etc. These people just go day by day basking in the love of their pretend god, waiting for heaven.

3) The free-thinkers (or atheists) will be looked to for guidance. Which is really pretty scary. I picture myself having to run a "God Rehab" center or something, instructing people on how to live, what to find good in their lives, how to treat other people and why, etc. etc.

4) Somebody will come up with ANOTHER religion that dodges the evidence, and will be treated like a prophet.

If god does exists and you belive, you have lost nothing, but at the same time if god exists and you dont believe, then you have lost everything.* to which my reply is.....*If and this is a big IF this god you speak of does exist, he is claimed to be a forgiving man, and if at that time I am before him, and truly beg forgiveness then I should be forgiven and allowed to pass*
then they give me this shit about having your cake and eating it too and thats not the way things work, etc etc etc.

so I say.... begone with ya, keep drinkin that kool-aid on sundays, and putting faith in air, give some more money to your church, the preacher needs a new caddie, and please please please answer this question before you go..... If everything in your world comes crashing down, bills are behind, losing your home, wife is leaving, kids hate your guts etc etc etc. Where is your god then? Free Will my ass. Sounds more like a Sadistic Hidden Video.
