I never had one of these 'Hey, I'm here' threads either.
I never saw the point in announcing my arrival (especially after seeing the treatment that is customary for a 'newb'.) I guess I just figured I'd jump right in and start posting ans sooner or later, people would realize I was here. And hey, what do you know? It worked.
