These kind of alien movie always seem to be the more mainstream films, although a good amount of them I find to be more action/thriller than actual horror.

Altered is a great little indie horror gem...

Pandorum is one of the fiance's favorites (it's quite good).

The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and A Thing From Another World; the latter especially being two chilling classics in my book.

Which, of course, brings us to Carpenter's The Thing and the 2011 Prequel (watch 'em back to back, prequel first)

Evil Aliens is a brilliant indie splatter punk gorefest. A total underrated and unseen BLAST.

You may also dig Apollo 18.

And just for fun: Killer Klowns from Outer Space. That actually terrified me as a child.

P.S. NE - Not sure if I can express how incredibly happy those pics made me.

Have you actually seen some of the ones I mentioned?-

Xtro
Inseminoid
Galaxy Of Terror
Contamination
Evil Aliens

They are indie/low budget films definitely NOT mainstream or action/thriller

Oh I know that there are plenty of low budget alien horror movies. I was just saying that it seems those kind of movies tend to be more mainstream accessible compared to others. I'm not trying to claim that all alien horror movies are extremely successful.

And no I haven't seen Bad Taste -hangs head in shame-.

I've seen all the ones mentioned so far. Enjoy pretty much all of them. A few of my favs not mentioned so far.

Some better known joys:
Xtro 2 (1991), Xtro 3 (1995) [Xtro was mentioned but to me if you see one, you should see them all]
Leviathan (1989) [Alien meets The Thing meets The Abyss]
Creature (1985) [Classic with Klaus Kinski]
Lifeforce (1985) [The 1st half of the movie]
Forbidden World (1982) [Loose sequel to Galaxy Of Terror]
Deepstar Six (1989) [More underwater aliens]

Some lesser known low budget joys:
Star Crystal (1986)
Dark Universe (1993)
Scared To Death (1980)
Deep Space (1988)
Alien Predator (1985)
The Rift (1990)
Alien From The Deep (1989)
Alien Prey (1978)

I've always been into the 'low-stream' alien movies more, although my favorite will always be 'Alien'. :')

Great suggestions guys, thank you. :)
