To many wrong turns over the years as a result of the juice so I giving some serious thought to quitting the shit for good.

7 days sober so far.
Making a good choice! Good Luck

Am I reading this right:

A month a go you stopped drinking for 2 1/2 weeks...then for the last week and a half you still 'drink occasionally' ?

I have a bad alcohol problem. Alcohol has been the root of everything bad in my life.
Losing my 50K plus job last year, my divorce from my first wife, hell even my ending my USAF career.

I've tried to stop numerous times, and always find a way to rationalize it to myself that this time, it will be different. And it never is.

I can't drink, plain and simple. Not "just one" at a party or "only a few" with the boys during a football game.
I can't. For me. it's none or way too many. I've radically restructured my life in an effort to quit, and it's a fight every day.

I have my higher power, and my wife along with me, and my not so strong will, trying to make it.
This is the hardest thing I've ever done. I see a beer commercial and I want a 30 pack.
I wish anyone trying to quit the best of luck. It's tough, I know. Good luck and God bless.

Alcoholism- the real kind- is nothing to mess with. I watched a guy D.T. in jail once, he drank a cup of piss because someone told him was hooch. He was too shaky and sick to even fight the guy who gave it to him.

I guess I should mention I was in jail from an alcohol related incident to begin with, and eventually a couple months of sobriety helped me more than the jail time. Good luck man.
