What would you do to survive?

Yknow, some stuff.

If you were stranded on a deserted island would you eat another person to live? Would you kill another person?

If it was deserted, there wouldn't be anyone else there to kill or eat.

...Though if you mean deserted with a dead body on it, provided there was nothing present that pointed out rotting and/or disease, I'd give it a go.

I've often said I'd try human flesh if it were available hygenically and without implied sentient murder involved, eg a cloned "leg of human" etc.
Just another animal.

If you where playing one of the Saw games could you cause harm to yourself or another to save your life?Would you have the strength and the will to overcome anything in your way?

This isn't a very specific question.
If it caused non lethal damage and it was something my pain threshold allowed me to bear, and the proper tools were at my disposal...I could probably axe off a hand or something...

Would you kill a family member or a friend to live or would you sacrifice yourself for them?

Depends on which one. There's two people I put before myself, if not them, them no, it would be me surviving. I'd probably only willingly end their/my life if it was easily doable with a pretty assured success rate.

But could you eat yourself?
Yes. Though I'd look for alternatives first.

Tastes like chicken...

Seriously, i worked in the Sacto. Co Coroner's Office quite a few years back, and we'd occasionally get in a burn victim. Before i could work on them i would always have to eat my lunch first. They smelled that enticing. i just could not work on a dead human that reminded me of a BBQ when hungry. Not sure how that would translate in a survival setting, but if i were the other person i would sleep with one eye open...

And thats not creepy.... nope not at all....

And all this talk of a desert island and eating yourself and such reminds me of a short story, I don't remember who wrote it, or what book it was in, but it was a really good story. Had to do with a surgeon smuggling heroin to make some money I think.

And on the actual topic, we could all say that we would or wouldn't, but nobody really knows. It just comes down to how much you really want to survive. And that can change with the situation. And am I starting to sound like Bear Grylls? Might have watched Man VS Wild too many times...

But there is always another option if you use your intellect. The planet is teeming with life and much of it is edible.

Whenever I hear or read these types of questions,Im always reminded of the great old quote from The world of boxing."Everybody has a plan until they get hit." Sums up how I feel pretty much. How do we know what we would do to survive such dire circumstance? We dont.

thanks, Nova - I'm just a little stressed. Many projects about to pop, but the waiting... ugh, the waiting.
