sorry about your troubles zero. You could stay at my house but I'd be a bit concerned you would drink all my beer.

The first thing I would do if I was homeless [ leaving my family out of it for the sake of this conversation ] is get the fuck out of New England......fucking cold as hell here in the winter [ wind chill made it about -7 deg. this morning ]. Driving through the city you notice "camps" set up of groups of homeless people in tents and I always wondered why they stay in this part of the country. Hell I would pack my little satchel...tie it on a stick and hop the first freight train down south.

Aww, thanks Sweetheart...It makes me feel good to know that you feel that way.

Dustin doesn't have a shotgun, he said you would be greeted with a banana...lol...I, however, pictured the scene with Dustin handing you a Rock Band guitar as you stepped into the parlor...haha

We warned Posher that it wouldn't all be fun and games, and that we considered our efforts (providing for him while he worked and saved money to get his own place, while also teaching him how to shop wisely, cook, and pay bills with only one income - the same way that I taught Seri) to be an investment in creating a productive, self-supporting member of society (we have actually done this many time in the past, with other people)...We had expectations that were too difficult for him to meet, so he decided to stay in college and wait a few years before he headed out on his own, which is a reasonable, viable alternative if someone isn't ready to jump out on their own just yet...It was a learning experience for him (I hope), not quite what we were going for but hopefully a good start for when he is ready to support himself.

As for you, Zero...If you ever were truly in need of a place to stay, we would offer you a room and sustenance while you worked (it's not difficult to find a job here) and saved money so that you could get back on your feet...You are an adult, and you already know how to take care of yourself and pay your own bills, so that wouldn't be something we needed to help you learn...If you wanted to learn a few new recipes, or try to master the art of living comfortably on a budget, we could do that

I showed Seri your post and she said "But, what about the Seri?"...lol...She has been staying in the room that Posher vacated, because after 3 years of living on her own, she is now saving money for a house...I told her that if she waits until spring, she will have many good opportunities because that's usually when people are moving, and more houses become available.

Sooo, rather than staying in Posher's old room, you would be in the room across from Seri, which I had been using as a library, but is now in the process of becoming a second guest room (it's smaller than the one Seri is in, tho...And it will have a twin bed in it, instead of a queen).

Things to consider (the potentially bad stuff) :

1) Seri has her 2 cats here now (until she finds her new place), so if you're allergic it could be a problem.

2) All computers are networked in the parlor, we removed 2 of them during the remodeling and only have 5 hooked up right now...We can hook up the others if you need, or you can hook yours up, but unless you are able to go wireless, you would be stuck in here with us :p

3) Wasting water and/or electricity makes me insane...Just a heads up...Basicly, if you leave a room, please turn off the lights/tv/etc., and ONE shower or bath per day should be sufficient unless you are doing something that gets you really dirty (Posher was taking 3 showers a day, and he never broke a sweat working at the hotel...I coulda strangled him...Doubling the water bill is bad, mmkay?).

4) We do not allow guns, smoking, alcohol or drugs in the house (these restrictions are mostly because of potential exposure to the kids)...If you feel the need to shoot something, smoke, drink or get wasted, you can do that outside, that's not a problem :D...What you do in your own room with the door closed and locked is 100% your business, not ours, as long as it can't get anyone arrested, and doesn't burn down the house :D

5) There are currently 5 of us living here: Dustin, Seri, Alex, Ash (just turned 4 last month, can be a real handful if you have no patience for small children), and me...Every person in the house is expected to be considerate of the other occupants, abide by the same rules/restrictions, and to clean up after themselves with the exception of dishes and laundry, which I do for the entire family...Oh, you would be expected to remove your own fur from the tub :p

6) The driveway is full at the moment with our Suburban, Seri's Hyundai AND Seri's Jeep Cherokee (she NEEDS to sell that thing), so you would have to park on the street until Seri gets her new place, or sells her Jeep.

Maybe this helps you guys to understand why Posher only stayed here for 3 months...lol (except for the Seri stuff, Seri only visited occasionally while Posher was here...and I think he fell in love with her...haha)

So see?...As often as you guys have called me "the mom of HDC", I don't think you realized how oddly accurate you were...I'm probably just as strict as your own mother

And, on a side note - OMG, I would LOVE to live at V's place!

If I currently had my own place, I'd clear out a spot for you.
Hope things come together, bud.

so . . . life is funny

i walked up the stairs from my little cubby to the director's office. i had actually worn an iron maiden t-shirt under my sweater as my little act of defiance for my termination meeting (ok - in fairness if it was real defiance i would not have worn the sweater but hey, we all have our limits).

i go in and oddly enough i'm not nervous. i actually felt very calm and even friendly. we joked around for a bit while waiting for another person to arrive. i figured the second person was coming to witness the termination or whatever so i was like cool. a friend of mine had been let go a few weeks before and she had gotten a fairly decent severence - 4 weeks pay, continuation of benefits for a bit longer, etc.

the other person arrives and my boss starts this spiel about how hard i work and how much i'm appreciated and then i think i kind of closed my eyes waiting for the ax and then . . .

they promoted me

i think i looked totally calm and almost non chalant about it. it really didn't hit me until i got back downstairs and in fact i ended up calling my boss about five minutes later to confirm that i had not just dreamed the conversation and to get the details of what that meant.

so - Rayne - you can tell Seri her room is safe and Dustin can avoid the awkward task of helping me learn Guitar Hero (i never can get the hang of that thing).

i will say that Rayne's post put a tear in my little simian eye. it is good to know that there are truly good people in the world and Rayne and her family are those people.

so much love to my HDC family - i'm still in the freezing north (though will be working harder)

life is funny
