I have just watched the Evil Dead for the first time in many many years due to my partner insisting that her daughter watch it as she is a horror fan and has never seen the film, my first recollections of the film were that it had some rather disturbing scenes in it, IE; the tree rape, the demon etc and at that time I thought it was rather shocking, moreover i also believed we would have her jumping out of her seat in shock, unfortunately time has not been kind to this film, my impression was one of disappointment and almost found myself laughing at some of the scenes which I once thought terrifying, I think that due to the many sequels of the Evil Dead particularly army of darkness where our hero, Bruce campbell fights a one man battle against the forces of evil the franchise appears more comedy than horror, I do appreciate that this series of films are regarded as classics of the genre but again time has dimmed the effect they had on me this time around, sorry...

Evil Dead

How many times can a bookshelf fall on a guy in one movie? Quite a few. Evil Dead rocks.
