I'm pretty much built, not to sound completely egotistical, a bit like a tank...my arms for some reason have always been quite loggish and I'm all shoulders.
Though I've never really worked much on my fitness until within the last year...I got lazy, could've done it sooner, but haven't. I've got weight to lose - though I carry it well at this stage, kind of goes...not "well" but yknow alright considering my frame. Still not thrilled about it, so measures are being taken. So, my current routine prior to joining a gym is making my diet healthier - I've dropped sugars that don't occur naturally (this is a big one), I've pretty much quit takeaway (once a fortnight I eat whatever I like), and taken to steaming quite a few things. Regular raw ginger intake, lots of leafy greens, and we now make our own bread. Though with diet it's important not to be completely fanatical I think, so every now and then we'll break the rules, but our intake is still within about 10% of what it used to be in terms of sugary and fatty foods. I also use a sugar substitute when I have tea/coffee, which I have also cut down on significantly. 20-40 crunches a night, I've got dumbells that are 10kg a piece that I lift 30 times on each arm, I do some stretches and take brisk walks at night of 50 minutes to an hour. When I'm used to that, if I feel that any further work needs doing I'll be joining a local gym mainly to continue with cardio and midsection strength stuff. I don't use anybody, or any...body...as a goal as such, just the guy that I am minus an appropriate amount of weight. Muscle wise I'm kind of well developed even though some may be a little "hidden" right now...but I build pretty fast so all that'll naturally occur as weight/fat comes off, I don't really feel the need to put on any more muscle, my girlfriend among others would say that if I did it may get towards freakish. So yeah, I don't really want the crazy neck-bulge look going on. The current routine seems to be working, so I guess my "goal" is the me that's in there already? Might consider getting back into boxing/muay thai if time allows.

Whilst I would like to lose some puppy fat of mine and tone up, I'm alread short enough as it is and don't want to risk staying that way by doing too much at the gym. I used to go with my friends but found myself spending most of the time chatting to them. Anyway, when I turn 16 I'll be able to get a full membership meaning I can go there whenever I want, and not just the 4x1 hours sessions that they have each week for 14-16 year olds.
Just 2 months, then I should be back on track to cardio coolness. (There, that sentence just made the thread gayer) :p

Meh, I'm more of a pizza guy :p
Plus, as much as I love chips wrapped in paper, never liked the fish. I always go for a saveloy!

@Darkness-I used to do planks during commercials, made me feel less the veggie and I just bought a cheap elliptical at Walmart last month (just have to put it together:o ) @Ferox-that's weird, they just opened a mixed martial art place down the street...they have a bad rep already though. @Cheeba- I don't look at other women for "oh god I need to have a body like that", I look to them for inspiration, for an extra push when I'm tired and working out and want to quit, they get me amped. If I have a lull where I don't feel like doing anything or not passing by a MickyD's-I think about someone that looks really good, you know? I wanted to leave Blade3 to go work out after seeing Jessica's arms -no lie. |

Weight training will not stunt your growth: that's a myth.
Six packs are primarily made in the kitchen and having visible abs comes mostly from having low body fat. My opinion is that P90X looks like a solid program for folks who want to get "cut" not so much for people who want to put on lots of muscle.v I'd stay away from most other infomercial stuff.

I've been slipping a bit recently - just starting college, which means way less free time to work out, plus my eating habits aren't where I'd like - but I've been on the fitness path hardcore for about a year and a half now.
Lost a shitload of weight last year, finally where I should be in that respect. Ever since I've been kind of working on building muscle, but mostly just toning myself up and staying in the best shape I can. I love working out, used to go everyday before I moved, so it's not hard for me to want to hit the gym...I just have trouble finding the time these days. Don't really have any specific goals or role models, just want to get to my own peak level of performance. Best of luck on your goal there EoD...that should be a solid challenge, best of luck!

The thing about the infomercial stuff, is that any of it will get you toned if you eat right and it's a program packed with cardio.
