I dunno. It seems that a lot of bands try to sound "brutal" or "hardcore" more than they try to sound "good". FIRST you get the quality, then you go for whatever your band is gonna be

I know the exact feeling - although the reason why I tried to get Kerbstomper to sound so heavy over sounding good was that was the whole point of the tracks.
As a result, most people will hate the sound, but I'm OK with that. Hell, I hate some of my own tracks.
