That's exactly how we felt when we saw it. Especially the part where the doctor/scientist makes the "creature" and it awakes. And the the death scene of the female that the "creature" seeks to "rebirth." Very, Very, melodramatic.

I actually like it, but I like Kenneth Branagh a lot, so its not a big shock. I think he tried to capture the feel of the book, even if he didn't always succeed (especially near the end). Yes, it is melodramatic and over the top.

And the book is my favorite. Ever. I absolutely love it.

Yup. Branagh should be forced to go door to door at libraries letting them know that a literature molester is in the neighborhood.
