Well I did do something (not much) halloween related today. I looked for decorations. But I couldn't find any.

Probably nothing on Halloween this year, horror movie watching will increase before it, and of course I hit the largest haunted house in the world. Doesn't really feel "right" this year though. Maybe it's because I have a lot to do on Halloween...

It all sits atop my kid's head.

I cut the brim off a baseball cap and ran a coat hanger through it and bent the coat hanger around "shoulder-shaped" pieces of foam core.

I then hot-glued two cardboard dowels (from a coathanger) to the underside of foam core to give it greater stability. The cardboard dowels are hot glued to a pair of backpack straps.

Then I put a black shirt and black cape over the top, making sure to rip holes in the side of the shirt for my son's arms to poke through (the cape covers this simple puppeteering trick quite well) and he puts his hands through the shirt's sleave just at the cuff.

The bloody neck stump was made with foam core as well. I made a cross out of two pieces of foam core that fit the neck hole of the shirt. Then I glued dozens of small pieces of foam core to that frame until they fit the general shape of a neck stump. I then used my Dremel grinder to shape it - spay painted it red and finally cut out several rings of foam core, glued them together and into place top make the exposed neck bone.

Finally, the wife cut out two panels in the front of the shirt and sewed black pantyhose in their place. So my boy can actually see - you can see his eyes in the bottom of the photo.

it is excellent. Really astonishing. The best I've ever had was white all over my face, black around my eyes, slicked back hair, fake blood, blck clothes and a cape. I was a vampire. But I still think my mum did a good job.

It looks really cool. Could you actually use it as a puppet?
