Do we need to see all of them? The old ones don't come up on the radar unless you're looking for them. Newer audiences are still prompted by TV, web and other forms of advertising to promote the current cinema offerings.
I've seen my share of werewolf movies, and only a few stand out as worthwhile. The Wolfen series was overdone, the Howling series was an overdone flop, but the cool takes on that genre were memorable and effective, like my fav American Werewolf in London. The new Underworld films are cool too, as I've mentioned. I could watch and appreciate another werewolf flick if it is done right, with a different angle and good effects.
Good rehashes of old ideas can happen, and I still think there is plenty on the horizon. As society evolves so will our ideas of horror and monsters.
