the only thing i wish was different is them having shown the alien in full body shot at the end. It was kind of a shame to finally give it a sense of scale, as all the other shots throughout the film had only been of sections of the creature which made it very hard to gauge the size or mass of it - and that added to the sense of mystery and threat. As it is, the final shot kind of looked what it was - a man in an alien costume  |

I think what saved that scene for me, though, was already knowing how invincible the creature was - 'You can't kill it, it's perfect' is what we are told. It took me a long time to respect 'Aliens' when that came out, simply on that premise - I always considered the Aliens to be more or less invulnerable, and yet there are hundreds of them getting blown apart without much of a problem. Once I saw it as an action film, though, (and once I saw the special edition) I fully accepted it for what it was, and I love both films now. Alien is still far scarier, though. |

I have to turn my webcam away from my face when I'm not using it - it reminds me too much of Hal. I'm sure it's watching me, even when the PC's not switched on... |

And CGI too. I should be ashamed. I've always been a bit of a sucker for space CGI though, I suppose. Just not the fast moving 'live-action' CGI, like for example the appalling Godzilla, which I think is already dating very quickly. IMO, Star trek TNG CGI still stands up very well to this day. geek attack  sorry! |
