thats exactly what i'm trying to say.you could splatter blood everywhere but it's not as frightning as seeing someone gets ripped to peices...you always expect the ripped intestines scene in zombie flicks...i think now is that everyone expects so much gore.....and thats why you get saw, hostel, tcm,...new topic:what is your favorite gore flick...you can also speak on this topic

Really good points from all. Thing is should we not be a tad worried if gore films are not effecting some people? Even when new films are made where scenes make even gore fans turn their heads will it not be considered the norm once it has been seen and new films hit the cinemas? Also think about people that watch these films and consider the violence normal (obviously not many).

However films are the imagination to say that someone has gone to far well thats like telling them not to think.

Sorry if I have repeated what has been said and sorry im not good at communicating in words what im trying to say lol bear with me.

It never will, just saying that a mother killing her young kids for no reason is disturbing and would probably shock in a film if done right.

Ah I see. Anyway, I was just trying to convey that I think people are capable of actions so depraved that the actions themselves are more shocking than gore. I think you got that. :)

i agree 100%...but that's why movies get banned...just 2,2,2 gory....the TCM 2003 remake had to cut out scenes to not get banned

I would agree that gore is not needed in some films. Some films do really over do it with the gorey scenes it can just become boring. However if done well gore scenes can be very effective as a visual impression of what the character is like.

The "better" gore the better. When I watch movies like Story of rikki and brain dead, the gore used is so un realistic it is rather funny. Buckets of fake blood and clay effects do nothing for me.
I like gore to add to the terror and reality of what was supposed to of happened in the movie. That is why the rape scene in Irreversable is so brutal. Lots of movies have rape in them, however Irreversable's rape scene is so realistic it made me think about what a rape victim would go through. I doesnt glorify rape, it makes you sick.
Also if there is a gorey scene in a movie I like the effects to be realistic as well. I would rather have one throat cutting scene like in High Tension than all the blood and guts of a Rikki or brain dead.
But thats just me.
