For the most part, a hanging can be a completely dramatic death. The build-up for such a one evokes resentment and sometimes sympathy and empathy both as the procedure reaches its climax.
Also, it can be easily faked by protecting the neck by any means possible from breaking. Hence it is easy to be used as a public-emotion evoking tool and faking a death both. In Saddam's case, it may have been a masterstroke. I wont be surprised if Saddam turns up well and truly alive after a few years, but then, I m still firmly believing that he might as well be dead. In either case, he will stay away from any sort of spotlight now, IMO. R.I.P.
