You want originality? Go see Independant films in the theater. If Original ideas start making more money, you'll see more of them brough to the screen.

And those of you who "don't go to the theater" (like I keep reading) have no room to bitch about what Hollywood does. The only way to make Hollywood listen is to pay to see what you like.

Been going to the theater so much lately...thinking of turning our game room into a movie room...with the chairs, lights, etc... We just don't get enough indie showings here, I watch most of the INDIE trailers at www.horror-movies.ca but those never make it this way....just got the new RAVE theater in Huntsville. Maybe it'll draw some more movies in and possibly some of the festivals. Wifey and I would be in, the theater is one of our fav things to do!

Moore =Black Christmas and the Thing remakes...maybe Moore could tie them together....you know, the whole North Pole thing and all...send the Thing out in a sleigh or something...now there's some originality!!!

I could see why Carpenter remade it, but I don't know about remaking the Carpenter version. The question when a person wants to do a remake is "what can you contribute?", in this case there's really not much. I don't think imposing a more modern viewpoint would make the movie novel, nor would special effects innovations, money or the modern talent pool. It might still be worth seeing. And I definitely agree with Roderick regarding viewing independent horror films. A ticket at a multiplex is ten bucks. A ticket to your local arthouse is usually around 5 or 6. Two people get to see a film which is getting limited exposure in a theatre environment for about the price of a single movie ticket. Plus, removing the temptation of three dollar Skittles (as some arthouses do) prevents another instance of price gouging. Everybody's money is precious, but spending it on a good date or contributing a little bit to somebody who might not get the money and exposure otherwise is worth it. It might make the Lion's Gate Rubberstamp-O-Tron 3000 get some better taste and give discriminating exposure to intelligent indie directors.

I live in the sticks, with the nearest city an hour away, so it's hard. So many great films come, and I'm just stuck due to time and shit like that.

However, if someone would resurrect their trailer thread on the General Forum ;) then I think a lot more people would take notice.

CGI has been so bad in alot of movies lately (my thread about this is out there somewhere)...I too would like to see a break from it and some effort in to mechanical/life effects.
