I also wanted to add that the non-commercial horror films are the ones the true genre fans will probably be wanting to look to in the future. Wrong Turn, which was as commercial as you get, must have been a fluke b/c I really dug it. All of the rest of them, as Creeper said, are aimed towards a different audience.

I just wanna say that todays filmmakers have lack of originality
they just use old storys, like the movies valentine, slasher, bloody kills or something like that
it's all to mainstream, no gore cause they wanna make money of it in the cinemas
a good example is the laser sequence in resident evil, due to the computer effects and the les gore part that scene is pretty clean, not to much gore, just enough to hit the cinemas, but movies like braindead don't get there

Yeah, I couldn't find my old thread. It's storyline is embedding in the disappearance of the Roanoke colony and sounds very promising.

Horror movies have been made to gain money from the start. You guys just have to deal with that... would horror movies still be made if their was no high profit? I think not.

Anyway, you gotta realize that every decade and every year will bring along a terrible movie. Some years and decades just have more...this does NOT mean that horror is coming to an end though, even though you already stated that you were getting a little carried away... But in reality, there is no such thing as a bad movie. It's all opinion. Heck, someone on another message board liked the movie Ax Em... I know, I know...they were probably drunk, high, and blind...maybe even deaf...lol. But hey, their opinion matters. Everyone's opinion matters.

So anyway, all of you "true" horror fans just need to be patient and give the filmmakers time to actually come up with something original, scary, and maybe even Oscar-worthy... Hehe. I doubt that'll ever happen. So just be patient for the type of horror movie you are looking for to come out... and if it never comes out, go and rent one of the classics you like.

That's what they're there for.

So you're saying that no horror films would be made if there was not a high profit? Let's think about this Axe Em that you mention in every post. Do you think it had a high profit? Do you think that most of those dtv flicks have a high profit? Horror films will always be made, regardless of high profit. There is such a thing as labor of love. As long as there is a couple of kids with a video camera somewhere in the world, horror films will be made.

I see your point. And I agree; horror films will always be made. But the ones that go DTV will make some sort of profit, and that's what they were made for. I didn't mean that every single one is gonna make a high profit, and I'm sorry if I confused you. I just think that horror films are the easiest movies to make, and when DTV, most profitable compared to other genres. They aren't made specifically for horror fans.

Some are made specifically for profit, but some are made for fans too. Usually the ones made BY fans are for fans. Profit's always nice, no one will argue against that. But some of those guys out there use their profit just to finance their next film.

Money is an intergral part of filmmaking. It's a sad fact. You need money to make a film, and you want to, at least, make that money back. But not every person is out there just for a buck.
