Saw this last night and I thought that it was better than the first one. There were better jump scares.
***********Spoiler******************************** I knew this would end-up being a trilogy as soon as the sister and the journalist started talking about the girl's mother and that she may be the answer to stopping the curse. But big surpirse the mother can't do shit and oh no the curse is going to speard. |

Watched it last night, I give it 1/10.
This movie was utterly awful, and really not worth movie go-ers time and money. It uses all the same scare tactics as the first and the original Ju-On movies as well as Ringu. It gets extremely repetitive, and very boring. It copies films so blatantly that any fan of J-Horror and Asian cinema will be disgusted by the shameful use of ideas stolen from classics such as Ringu and other horror using Japanese folklore, and even steals one scene from Oldboy. It will be displayed to a predominantly western audience who most of which will be oblivious to that fact. American re-makes are getting worse and worse, and even when Japanese directors give them a hand, its obvious the Americans get the last word. I beg of Hollywood companies to leave Asian cinema alone, and think up some of their own ideas instead of ruining classic movies just to line their pockets with more money from ignorant western audiences. Whether you're a fan of Asian or American horror, the mix of the two here will leave you feeling unsatisfied as the blending of the two is very far from subtle. They adopt the idea of multiple characters and story lines based around the same horror element (seen in such movies as Kairo) but does it badly, in a Tarantino style which just doesn't work for a horror. The acting on the whole was average, however the main Japanese schoolgirl sounds like she belongs in a badly dubbed martial arts movie. The 1/10 is awarded to the movie simply for seeing that same girl in a very short skirt.

I must agree that the Grudge was deffinately a waste of film. Was boring, short, and had nothing to it. Hopefully the second will be better, maybe they learned how to create more thrill and horror. I must say that the previews do make the movie seem alot scarier. I'll prob see it, what could it hurt.
