Although not gorey, the last kill in the movie "The Fog" (the good original, not the crappy remake) was very creepy even though technically, all it used was a selective camera angle, black out, and sound effect...
The scene in Hellboy when one of the nazis falls into the portal at the beginning, to be stripped down into the skeleton, was pretty cool. Repo Man and the infamous trunk... 'nuff said...
