i hate to be a party-pooper (and i'm sure people will either ignore or shit all over me for this) -----

but, in the grand scheme of things we are all living in a world of unearned privileges where a huge number of people are living without the most basic things like clean water, food, shelter, etc. as for me, i've decided to not give gifts for christmas and instead give donations in people's names to hiefer international (they provide livestock to impoverished people) - this will do two things: 1) piss of my spoiled brat nieces and nephews; and 2) make someone in the world suffer just a little less.

i can't change the world in one easy step, but if i can reduce suffering somewhere even just a little bit then i'm ready to do it.

And if someone's a spoiled brat, I'm all for giving someone else money for them to piss them off.
But for the rest of it, here ya go:

So someone's living without the basic necessities. Sucks for them, but "sucks for them" is all you'll get out of me. Sorry*, but I don't think I should be expected to go out of my way for them or give money to them. Does it mean I won't? No, it just means I shouldn't be EXPECTED to.

BTW, if you do the donation-in-their-name thing for a friend (if you get your friends x-mas gifts), and you didn't say anything to them about it, then you suck. ESPECIALLY if they got you something.
"Here ya go, Merry Christmas."
"Why, thank you. But just so you know, we're all over-privaleged and didn't earn what we have, so instead of getting you something for Christmas, I donated money to someone else for you."
"So...you didn't get me anything for Christmas?"
"No."
"Oh..."

I mean, how is donating money in someone else's name supposed to pass as a Christmas gift? All it it does is give them credit for shit they didn't do.

*-I'm not sorry

thats all it takes is for one person to give a damned to make a difference.
What your doing is noble and you should feel proud.
What annoys me to the max is that ..the money ppl donate..do not get through to
those that need it..
These ppl have existed for many years untill the outside world discovered thier means of income and decided to strip them of the natural resources to put up for sale to the richer countries.

Before i even think if trying to help those overseas..I beleive my biggest priority are to those on my own backdoor step.

I don't weep when a picture of yet another starving baby flashes across my screen..in fact i cuss the shit out of them..
as pre mentioned...
STOP FUCKING BREEDING..!!
If the outside world wants to help..
educate them on birth control etc..
There are 1000's of starving people all over the world..
some of them are in our own countries..
thats where i would start first if i had the means.

Then why isn't there a difference being made despite all the people that give a damn now?

hmm, the funny thing STE is I NEVER said i "EXPECTED" anyone else to do anything - if you feel some burden of expectation i say you should check your own tiny and corroded conscience. . . .

as for giving someone a donation and sucking, well do you ASK everyone exactly what they would like for christmas - - what if you give me a sweater and I DON"T LIKE THAT PARTICULAR COLOR. for the love of god it is a GIFT - which means no one DESERVES IT, they should be glad they got something. In the end, if i chose to spend my hard-earned money to give a donation in their name they should be bloody grateful i thought about them at all

which reminds me, i'm definitely giving a donation in your name STE - merry fucking christmas

But you're NOT GETTING THEM ANYTHING! You're giving someone ELSE something, and saying that THEY did it! How can they be "glad they got something" when THEY DIDN'T? It does something for someone else, but the whole point of a GIFT is that it's for the person that it's for. Just be honest and tell them you got them junk mail, because that's what they're going to be getting all because you wanted to give some starving kid over in Wherever-The-Fuck money in your friend's name. Yes, wonderful, you're doing a good thing and don't let anybody say any different, but at least be fucking honest about what exactly it is that you're doing. Don't call it a gift for your friend because it's fucking NOT. What the fuck is there for your friend, who got NOTHING, to be grateful about.
"Hey, you should be happy about the fucking pile of nothing I got for you, Mr. Overprivileged!" Well FUCK that. Tell them you didn't get them anything, but that you put a donation in their name, the fact that you gave money to someone is good, but DON'T tell them to be grateful when you didn't do SHIT for your friend.
BTW, YES I ask people what they want for Christmas. That's how I know what they want. Does it mean I'll get it for them? Not necessarily because a lot of the time I can't afford it. But I still ask. And I especially wouldn't do THIS without asking them about it, cause for all I know they don't care about the situation any more than I do. Which is none.

And as for you saying I was expected to do something or not, I didn't say you did. I was speaking in generalities.
