The majority of good horror films were given shit exactley like this when they came out. it does seem to be a trend to hate this film. the horror movement used to have solidarity now popular opinon rules and people go with the sway (not just this site.....everywhere).
People try to talk the talk and don't have real opinons (i.e regurgitation of the popular belief) a lot of the time, easy to attack the new school scared to spit at the old.
This movie is genius and takes a bit of time to digest (like a lot of the classics). Probably one of the best horror films I've seen in the last 8 or so years. The first time I saw it I saw it I was entirley sure what to make of it.... but now i love it. These are the sort of horror films that should be made instead of the remakes. People attacked Fulci and Argento in the same way (and before you skitz out me saying this remember RZ works within the American film system).
I personally love this film because it is combination of 1970s American-Interantional films and E.C comics molested by Ed Roth, Jeff Gaither and Eric Pigors.

Haters have always kept this genre down and its easy to see this will never change.

Get out of the past and take a breath of fresh air.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Back on topic, I also thoroughly enjoyed House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects. I think the were well done.

I didn't hate this movie to be trendy. I hated it because I thought it sucked. Some of you are having problems with people not liking this flick. In fact I have never seen such blatant disrespect for other people's opinions. Some of you have made it clear that if you don't like this movie, you're stupid.

I am not being trendy when I say I didn't like that pieve of shit. If you've got a problem with my OPINION then you can kiss my Witchy ass.

I liked the movie myself, I can't see anyone disliking it to be trendy.I'm sure if people disliked it, it's simply because they disliked it for their own reasons, everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinions.

^^ Totally dude. The point was is that its going down as a "cool" movie to hate. A lot of people are scared to say they like it because they'll lose "cred".

While this syndrome is of course not the rule, following the herd and bandwagon jumping on both negative and positive views with absolutely no individual interpretation whatsoever is nontheless rife.

Quote, Homer Simpson: "Marge! Someone squeezed all the life outta these kids!"

Part of growing up, or something altogether more sinister?

This will upset only those to whom it applies, their parents, students, liberals, fat people and probably women for some reason.

:p

P.S: this film is overrated, with the aforementioned shooting of the cop the only real surprise - the Texas hinterland/wacko family thing is back in vogue (did it ever really go away?), but the clever edits and effects weren't enough to stir the blood - nor was the supposedly iconic horror imagery HOTC was supposed to be filled with.

Loved the film.

Haig puts on a great performance. If I ever put my hands up when someone pulls a gun on me I am sticking up my middle fingers.

Moseley also puts on a great perfromance and is quite believable as Otis.

Personally I think he should get an oscar for Devils Rejects.

Sheri Moons performance is questionable but I am willing to overlook it.

The only thing that kinda is missing is a little more about Dr. Satan.
