LMAO:) I agree with all of you, and if my kids were starving I would do it in a second. I do think the stereos and generators are stupid, why would you take advantaged of people who have already lost so much? Moonlit, I think you wrote this thread beautifully!

LOL....Nova you're too funny :)

And thanks for the nice words, pinkfloyd...these things have just been on my mind, and I think it helps to talk about them sometimes...find out if other people are feeling the same or what their feelings are in general. I respect everyone's opinions on here, and value them...so it's definately nice to see everyone's viewpoints:)

OMG!! That was brilliant!! That really sums things up!
It is sad that devastation like this is all over the news right now, celebrities are scrambling to raise funds & due to America's short attention span, in a few weeks, no one will care.
I'm sure there are poeple in high places that are glad that we now have something to take our attention away from our loved ones dying in Iraq. But, we've sent so many people over there, what kind of reserves do we have for our own nation right now? It seems like we have no organized plan to help these people. I was in Iowa during the big floods & we didn't have these issues. I am not against looting to help your hungry family. But looting for the sake of material possessions-what the hell is that? Drop the f*ing tv & go help a stranded person off of their roof. All of these evil deeds will come back to you three-fold.
Ok, I think I'm done ranting.

Looting survival items is understandable. Looting of other stuff isn't. Looting from people's homes - those people need to die, now. And looting in general leads to an atmosphere of lawlessness that can make more violent crimes easier to contemplate.

Sadly, I'm not surprised. People start getting hungry, scared, and they become desperate. And then the criminal element uses the chaos to settle old scores and rule the ruins.

What also makes me mad is when I see pictures of people just sitting around DEMANDING that the government come and help them. We live in this handout society where people expect disaster management to be like ordering a pizza. People, the government cannot always protect you, cannot always help you. We all need to be able to protect our own families and communities.

I find it incredible that so many people were running out of food and water a day or two after this happened. It's not like they didn't know it was coming.
And why were so many people remaining behind in a MANDATORY evacuation?

And as for Fats Domino he'd better send a big, fat check to the relief effort, because it cost a lot of money and time to pull his big, fat ass out of the water.

By the way: this is why I own guns, this is why I'm in the NRA, why I stock lots of bottled water and keep batteries in the fridge. The government will not be able to help you when the smelly stuff hits the fan.

Halliburton hired for storm cleanup

The Navy has hired Houston-based Halliburton Co. to restore electric power, repair roofs and remove debris at three naval facilities in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Halliburton subsidiary KBR will also perform damage assessments at other naval installations in New Orleans as soon as it is safe to do so.
