haha we are totally off topic, but im glad we got a good convo going on.

but does anyone think my "version" of h8..would have made the movie a sucess? somehow going back to its roots..similar to h2....which took place in the hospital the whole time.

i mean..having it all take place in the mental institution..and ending it with jamie getting killed would have been great...ever since i saw that movie..i always wondered why the fuck they went with the pointless dangervision horseshit.

as for pointless sequels ruining the first....well..yeah..it takes away from the characters mystique.

pinhead in hellraiser was on icon that definitly made me a lil uncomfortable...after watching the other sequels, he lost his "scaryness". BUTT as a fan of many franchises, even though i lose the essence of the first film, i still support and watch all sequels..even if they are SHIT...why? because i like to see how many ways they can take one character/story..and keep going with it...no matter how stupid it gets...

i could care less if they made 10000 nightmares on elm's 10000x halloweens...even if they are 10000x below the quality of the first, i still watch it...better than no movie at all..i can still enjoy the 1st...it will always b there..so why not enjoy the others? the only thing that frustrates me is when movies get REALLLLYYY pointless(like h8)

Well, I guess The Village would fit into that catagory. The ending killed it. It had great potential, had some great scenes, a decent storyline, fine acting. But he tried for some great twist, as usual and it just failed miserably.

And I personally thought Boogeyman started out well enough and then went completely downhill. The last few minutes were just horrible and it completely took away from the fact that the beginning was actually.... okay.

I love crappy movies, personally. That doesn't mean I like and watch everything out there, but it is nice to go and see the latest piece of crap sequel to something, or the latest cheesy remake, and munch on some popcorn and walk out of the theatre laughing and saying "THAT was a piece of crap!" I love that crappy feeling. And I'm glad that I do, because crap seems to be pretty much all they're making these days.

I always thought the Alien series went to shit... after Aliens, I didn't even bother enjoying myself.

Alien 3.... shit. Couldn't understand anything anyone was saying (no offense to you Brits, but those accents were thiiiiick.

Alien Resurrection: Shit. Wynona Rider as a lovable robot? Pppppppp....

I don't even talk about Alien vs Predator.

Amityville 2: The Possession had great potential, but turned into a bad Exorcist rip off:rolleyes:

Amityville 2 I find very scary - it was repeated recently on UK TV and reminded me it was one of the pivotal films that fascinated me with horror as a kid.

The jumps and scares may be rather mechanical, but having said that, compared to today's post-modern efforts they aren't too bad at all: what about the unseen force lurching out from that dark, dank hole in the basement? The uncompromising shotgun-blasting of the whole family? The priest's creepy exploration of the house near the end, searching for the posessed boy? His own posession by the demon in the downbeat finale?

Alien3 is really love-it-or-hate it; I like it a lot - so long as you don't try and compare to the others in the series there's a really dark story here and the violence is particularly ugly and nasty. Alien Resurrection is loads of fun, if only for Brad Douriff's head-puncturing demise!

I guess I would be with the hate it crowd. I have only seen it once, but I was appalled. Appalled, I say. ;) After Aliens, it all went to hell in my opinion. But at the very least, it was a far more interesting film than Alien Resurrection.

Aliens is probably the very best action film ever (sci-fi or otherwise), closely followed by Terminator 2
