Not if you do it right. Knowing the outcome can even add to the story. Watch Grave of the Fireflies.

although not technically a "prequel" i think the flashback scenes in godfather 2 (which were practically a movie in themselves) were pretty freakin amazing. only going to show that a prequel is not predestined to suck. i am totally welcome to a "silence" prequel or, while we're on the subject, a freddy, blair witch or chainsaw prequel. sure, they may end up sucking, but they also may end being great. and i think the possibility of something great is worth it. just my oppinion.

that was an exeptional movie ..

the 'hannibal' movies however are becoming progressively weaker ... and given most prequels suck as they are usually just made to cash in on a ready made market .. i expect the Hannibal prequel will be the worst of the bunch ..

if i end up being wrong .. hey, great ...

Sounds ok I guess. I'm guessin you mean a movie, but everyone else is talking about the books.

the books and the movies are indivisible now.
Harris writes his books knowing they are going to be films.
It's turned him into a shitty writer.

Exacty. However I do have high hopes as I enjoyed "silence.." like most, but was disapointed by Hannibal. When Red Dragon came out I didnt expect too much but I ended up loving it, perhaps my views were changed because of Ray Fiens & Edward Nortons involvement.

do yourself a favor and see Manhunter, the Red Dragon adaptation made before all of the others by Michael Mann ..
Far superior to anything since..
