there is nothing specific i want to know, i just want to know bout everything! I suppose that is too ambitious.

That's the sad thing with companies today, they'll bleed you dry before they promote you to a position that you're suitable for.

Dont feel too bad. i started off trying to learn close to 11 different things. i found my niche through trial and error. I'll get you a list of places for a bunch of different languages, then you can just browse around.

Meh, im okay. I just like giving a boost to people i see maybe having to deal with the same shit i went through.

A good place to satrt for all things programming:

http://codeproject.com

Javascript to steal (reverse-engineering is the best way to learn)
http://javascript.internet.com/

Basic HTML
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/primers/basics.html

And DHTML

HTML tag reference:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp

If you have quake 3, this is a GREAT place to pick up some c++ editing skills:

you will need visual studio, but that can be found through many means, both honest and shady.

yeah I really want to just be very well-rounded with my skills. Particularly since I don't have a college degree. The more I can do the better my chances are of landing something i can live off of.

Oh god....

i just had a meeting that involved the "genius" referenced in this thread:
http://horror.com/forum/showthread.p...highlight=vent

he has set a new land-dumbass record....

The project i have been killing myself over for a month now is called "Change Management"

there is a part on the main page that clearly states "click here to view all open change managements"

He has been to this page in excess of 3 dozen times for testing. today he asks "is there a way that we can view all open change managements, or is that something that is waiting to be built?"......

Another impossibly retarded question he asked.....
The main viewing page he had opened was scrolled all the way down to the bottom. not something that is even remotely unusual for people that have spent more than 2 minutes on a web page....

say there are 4 lists: a b c and d. a b and c all fit on the page, but you have to scroll down to see d, which he had

"When i first came to the page, i could see a b and c. now i see b c and d, but i cant see a. how do i make that visible again?"

the better part of a minute goes by with me sitting there with my mouth gaping open. I have done tech support for 3 years now, and this is easily the DUMBEST thing i have ever heard.

Finally, i say: "Scroll up to the very top of the page. is that what it looked like?"

"Yeah. Yeah! hey, cool....."

He is a director and easily makes 2 to 2 and a half times what i make a year......

what you have to realise, is that these dumb ass monkeys, who become directors, 9 times out of 10 they've landed the job due to other reasons.... either promotion or were in a similar position with another company.

once these monkeys become directors, there seams to be some sort of mental brain evolution change within their brains, that melts down all the brain cells..... and the only logical thing they can cope with is being dumb when it comes to testing systems etc, because the 'director' instinct takes over and the job in hand is completly below them, and in their eyes, we are the idiots who are insane.
