Michael Myers kill list and your hopes for the future of the Halloween series...
*SPOILERS for all movies*
Yes, I know kill lists for famous horror icons are all over the 'Net, but I've always wanted to do one for myself, and I wanted it to be accurate (most of the lists seem to have different counts). If there are any contestations one would like to make to my list, feel free. For those who find such things uninteresting, I have another, more conversation-inducing question at the bottom of the post. Note: I plan to do similar lists with the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street series (complete with Freddy's Nightmares) once I get the DVDs. Michael Myers Kill List Timeline 1: H1, H2, H4, H5, CoMM Timeline 2: H3 Timeline 3: H1, H2, H2O, H:R Timeline 4: RZH - Halloween [Television Version] (1978) Judith Myers - Died at 6:00 Phelps Garage truck driver - Seen dead at 26:26 A dog - Found dead at 47:02 Lester (dog) - Died at 54:10 Annie Brackett - Died at 1:04:22 Bob - Died at 1:15:54 Lynda - Died at 1:18:11 Count: 5 people, 2 dogs Halloween II (1981) Alice - Died at 12:22 Mr. Garrett - Died at 40:02 Budd - Died at 50:43 Karen Baley - Died at 52:21 Dr. Mixter - Found dead at 57:09 Janet Newhall- Died at 57:43 Veronica Alves - Found dead at 1:05:39 Jill Franco - Died at 1:08:58 The marshal - Died at 1:20:43 Count: 9 people Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) No kills (only seen in stock footage) Count: 0 Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) 3 unknown people - Retconned to death at 3:25 J. There may well have been more kills in that scene (and you can argue that at least two more are implied), but those were all I could make out. Quite frankly, the whole scene was unnecessary. Anyway, my question (it's in the poll) is: which existing timeline (if any) would you like the inevitable next movie in the series to follow? |

how about an option of "No more Michael Myers, please"

That would be option 2: Pick up after Season of the Witch. Just out of curiosity, though, why no more Michael? Are you too hung up on Freddy and Jason?

I am sick to death of Michael, Freddy, Jason, Pinhead, Candyman and all the other 80's/90's shit. I don't want to see another HALLOWEEN movie. I didn't think RZs version was as bad as it could have been, but that's hardly an endorsement you'd want to put on the DVD box.
The original films are great. The second and sometimes even third installment of a franchise can be okay, but endless sequels cheapen the product and it's ability to thrill. Fresh ideas are out there, but they get pushed aside in favor of remakes and sequels and I sick of it. If you love Micheal, maybe you should try out one of the new takes on the 80s slasher flick like HATCHET or BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON - and leave the past in the past.

Christ, but these crazy fucks are the foundations of what horror is, they are classics how could you get sick of them!

Yes, they are our boogeymen, but when they are done to death, we learn to care less. Fred Krueger used to be scary. Now he's as comical as, well, FredDY Krueger. There is no point to keep reviving characters.

But Freddy, Jason, Micheal, etc. are far from the foundations of horror. They aren't even the founding fathers of horror film - that's for Nosferatu, Frankenstein's, Der Golem etc. Horror goes back to the cave dwellers. Fear is the most primal emotion. Horror tales are as old as written language. The Ballad of Gilgamesh, Beowulf, The Odyssey - all packed with monsters and murderers. Horror goes back a little further than 1980. I understand liking these guys, but man has more things to fear than these four or five boogeymen and I'd like to hear some new stories.

I love Michael Myers and the Halloween franchise and I will continue to watch them and also other franchises. Crap sequels are a part of the horror genre. I would love to see what they do next no matter the route they take(as long as it takes place on earth).

How about, no more, for any of them. In fact, let's burn all the sequels that killed the original. (except Halloween 2 and Friday 2+3)
