Phantasm III

Fun movie, got the DVD, was a little disappointed that it was a "matted" widescreen and so the full-screen VHS shows more of the image on top and bottom. That said, though, the image is fine and the movie sounds REALLY good. With commentary from refined Angus Scrimm and a somewhat jaded but funny A. Michael Baldwin. Some would describe this as "not a movie but rather a reunion party on film" .....In this regard, Phantasm III is enjoyable, and it is nice to see so many players from the original classic come back to get paid.

I especially like the first 30 minutes, which introduces us to the major characters and then picks up right at the end of Phantasm II...we get hearse crashes, dwarf-blasting, Mike, Reggie, Jody and the Tall Man, a "good" sphere, possessed zombies, and a bunch more stuff. I don't think the movie gets better than that first half hour, it becomes a little silly, but the opening is strong enough to make the whole movie watchable.

A favorite moment is when Reggie wakes up after the attack of the Tall Man, who opens a spacegate that scorches the walls black after it disappears. Reggie thinks the Jody sphere is talking to him like it was talking to Mike; he carries the sphere over to the scorched walls, shaking the sphere to see if he can get Jody to speak to him. It squeaks but can only get out a word or so. "Christ--now I'm talking to this damn thing," Reggie says. "Sure fucked up my hallway..."

Child's Play 3

Not as good as the first or second, but a worthwhile watch, at least once, for fans of the series. Just don't expect too much out of it because it's not going to quench your craving. This is where I think the series should have ended personally.

5/10

Ravenous (again)...I love that movie! Funny and horrible (well, I think it's funny anyway).

Ghost Rider

Well, I was never a big fan of the comic book so it wasn't much of a surprise to me that I was no fan of the film either. Nicholas Cage does alright, but the whole concept/story of Ghost Rider is just ridiculously stupid that I just can't get into it. The FX were obviously CGI, but done pretty well. The fight scenes were pretty lame. All in all, this was one to skip.
