I'm kind of torn on Alejandro Jodorowsky's stuff...is Santa Sangre more akin to El Topo, or is it closer to Holy Mountain?

I absolutely LOVED El Topo, but couldn't even finish watching Holy Mountain.

While we're on the Jodorowsky topic - have you guys seen La Cravate?

It's his first movie and only 20 minutes long, but I thought it was fantastic. If you like his work, you have to check it out - you can get it in the Anchor Bay set that they put out awhile back.

no! i've wanted to for some time.
i should just get the boxset.

holy mountain
was a little tough for me to get through, too, but with el topo, la cravate, and all the extras, it'd be worth it i think.

Had my eyes on the boxset with all the soundtracks included for awhile but I've got most of the films seperatley so I'd rather grab something I don't have instead. Great looking set anyways.

Fando y Lis is cool, too - you guys seen it?

It's not really on par with El Topo - for me, at least - but if you like his stuff, its worthwhile for sure. Black and white suits him well.

If you're looking for a sociologically relevant, intellectual film... try Blindness (2008).

Toy Soldiers

A great cast makes this Stand By Me meets Die Hard film really work. I dug this one as a kid and picked up a copy recently and it still kicks ass. Louis Gosset Jr, R. Lee Emery and Denholm Elliot are solid. Andrew Divoff is great as the villain (just like in Another 48 Hrs). This film has great pacing and doesn't drag and pulls off the multi-genre spliceup with class because of its tight well written script. But more importantly this film is a lot of fun.
