Rocky Balboa 7.5/10
Am I a complete moron or was this a pretty entertaining flick? I've seen all the Rocky movies, always hoping there will be some carryover from the sensation I had watching the original in the theater when I was 6 years old. The nostalgia factor worked like a charm on me, so I must be getting old. Sly's directing was excellent up until the fight sequence, where he substituted fast cuts and silly variations in color and grain in a ham-fisted attempt to add a "youthful vitality" to the typical Rocky fight. It came across as an old man's half-baked (and failed) effort to contemporize a film that didn't need it. I'd rank it 2nd overall in the series. |

The Prestige
This was a very good film. In my opinion, it might be Christian Bale's best yet. Hugh Jackman is good too. The story is very interesting and the acting is good. Christopher Nolan is rapidly becoming one of my favorite directors. There's no gore, but the story is still quite dark. All in all, I enjoyed it quite a bit. B

I wasn't too crazy about Following, but other than that everything he's done has been pretty bad ass.
