I like other bands that were inspired by punk ...

but its true ... there isn't punk anymore - i stand behind that 100%

calling what passes for punk today as 'punk' is like calling what passes for RnB today as 'RnB'

two distinct periods of music that stood for a lot more than just a look and a sound - that are long past.... unfortunately.


green day is about as 'punk' as The Monkees.


actually - less so.

Dead Kennedys have always been my favorite punk band, never liked the Sex Pistols that much.

We'll never get anywhere with this.
Why not just enjoy what you like listening to without having to label everything?
No one wrote a book on punk back in '76. The Ramones sang songs about movies. MOVIES!!! And everyone will agree that they were punk but there was no rebellion or political angle. They were just doing what they liked.

But I've probably just opened a new can of worms, haven't I?

by the way...I like the Monkees too.
